Went to try again and I still get stuck trying to make the company run.
I started by hiring a Sales employee, researching the health potion, reassigning Maya to Production and buying Chems manually. Each cycle, Maya spends most of the chems and Nora sells all potions and I buy more Chems while researching the lactation potion. Before I finish researching it Nora stops selling: the market is flooded. I need to reload a save because I spent everything I had to supply Maya and had no money left to pivot to a new production.
The production and sale speeds should be lowered, divided by ten. I should be able to buy enough Chems to supply Maya for a few days off of the starting cash and it should take at least a week before I need to worry about market saturation.
- the milk farm is tedious. You need to go to HR to reassign your employee there, go there to milk them, then go back to HR to reassign them back. There's no benefit leaving them assigned to the farm.
- you can raise character affection for free by greeting them and endynd the interaction repeatedly.
- procurement is a waste of employee time if they don't get a discount based on their skill. You can buy supplies yourself at no time cost, it is tedious but optimal.
Yes. Some of the concerns/issues were addressed on the latest build (0.3.1.2). I did some modifications to contracts and you can use them to stabilize the company on early game.
Milk farm will come in handy later on since milk will expire. without a permanent milk person, your stock will plummet to 0.
Procurement has a logic to reduce the price based on the skill. i think its not working. let me check that
I'm curious to see how that will improve things. The way I see it the production is just too fast: you don't need to double your starting cash on the first production day, you just need to make 200$ of profit to stay afloat while you court/corrupt your employees. The amount of money you have is not the issue, it's how you need to spend it all to sustain your production, which is unnecessarily high.
A few more bugs:
- on day 1, hiring a character shows them with 2000 milk capacity
- characters usually show 0 milk capacity if they are not lactating
- after hiring you can save the game and reload to hire again
- the scene with Martha in the bathroom can trigger when Sophie or even no one is in there
- one of my saves got corrupted somehow: after loading, any location I travel to offers no interaction or travel option, leaving me stranded. I'm not sure what led to this.
The default milk capacity for all npcs start with 2000. Thats why its displayed like that. once you interact, the milk capacity will drop to zero when she is not lactating.
Not lactating npc milk capacity is 0. I will fix that to show actual capacity on future updates.
hiring and reloading bug will be fixed. thanks for mentioning it.
can you share the corrupted save file with me? should be located on your C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\LocalLow\Beetle\HealthPoints
Eh I understand wanting to limit a demo but disabling saves? I'm not going to try it out on mobile if I have to restart every single time I need to text someone and my phone force closes the game. Yeah that's on me for having such a restrictive phone that just does whatever it wants to my apps. But still... I like the concept of the game! The models are interesting.
- the Love Essence amount persists after restarting the game until you restart the application
- I'm not sure how someone who hasn't played Lab Rats 2 would figure out how to make money. You need to create the potion, activate its mastery research, and research it a couple of times, then you need to select it in Production and Sales, buy Chems from Procurement, then go to HR to reassign Maya to production and then sales. This is a lot.
- Not being able to Produce and Sell is annoying, you need to constantly reassign Maya to make money. At least you can buy Chems manually.
I suggest starting with 100$, 450 units of low grade potions worth 2$ each and Maya assigned to Sell them. This way you see your money go up at the start. Once the stock runs out Maya can tutorialize researching potions if you have not researched one yourself.
I get that there's exciting systems you want to implement, but showing the player how to interact with the prerequisites is important.
Hi! Thanks for your input. I made this because I was frustrated that latest Lab Rats 2 was not playable on mobile. even using JoiPlay. So my assumption was player has prior Lab Rats 2 knowledge. Its my mistake that i havent implemented some sort of a guide or manual. I'm still adding systems and building the skeleton of the game. That will go on until 0.3 version, which I'm happy to say, very close. Once 0.3 hits, I will publish a proper guide.
To address your issues..
1. Love essence persists because of a coding error on my side. cant fix it until I enable another critical system. So for now, player will start with Love essence and will persist on new games.
2. Making money can be done in several ways. First, you must hire Production execs, Sales execs. They are critical. Note the Production and Sales skills of each of these npcs. These skills will play a role on how much potions are made and how much potions are sold per turn. (same applies for researcher and hr exec). Once Production exec is assigned, you can set a production potion from production settings. Same goes to Sales. you can set which potion to be sold by the sales exec. She will automatically sell potions based on her skill.
Note that the market gets saturated when you sell the same potion again and again. you can view the market demand from Market watch (in Office).
And there are something called contracts. this can be accessed from office and fulfilling contracts is the only way to build reputation. Once reputation hits a certain limit, your company upgrades to next tier. Potion ingredients and bases require certain tier to be unlocked.
That's the basics when it comes to making money. Latest update introduced Love Essence and Milk. Milk acts as a stabilizer for potions which requires when making potions. You can harvest breast milk from lactating npcs. breast milk capacity and regen depends on the breast size. You can induce lactation by making the npc pregnant (work in progress) or giving her hormone potions (potions with lactation effect).
Hope this clarifies your issues. please do let me know your thoughts. I need these kinda of reviews to improve this game.
I will be uploading a prototype PC build today eve. please try that as well. Implemented a ingredient unlock system to it.
Super super lost. Like the concept but it would be really cool if you could take some time to work on menus and tutorials. Also a game over would be nice rather than just locking yourself into debt
Yup. This is just a preview build. I have polished up most of the issues found. You can find more info on my Patreon. (Public build will be published here once it's done. Targeting towards the end of this month)
Sorry to take up ur time with this but i have 2 questions. Is most the game empty?(Just curious bc I keep doing rounds around the town and wanna know if I'm wasting time) And I keep hitting a wall after lvl 2 potion. I've tried a few diff things and I either bankrupt or make tiny profits where I have to pass 100s of days to get anywhere. Any advice?
More interesting ingredients and bases are available at higher tiers. Regarding making profit, there was an issue with older versions but was fixed on 0.2.9.3. latest version even includes contracts, Milking system etc. More info on my patreon. i posted all the devlogs and versions as public.
How to stop the mood drop among employees? And why is it falling at all? You can't use compliments, they add very little. At the beginning of the day, the whole mood progress drops. Why doesn't the employee's relationship rise above 9? and for some, it doesn't even go above 5.
Yup. Trick is not to hire anyone until your 1st health potion is tier 2 (potions with health stat will sell for higher price). After that try to hire someone with procurement at 9 or above
Anyway, I have added contracts and fluctuating market for the latest game build.
Do you mean Job skill? (each job requires a specific skill. for example, production worker needs production skill. Amount of potions produced are dependent on the production skill. You can upgrade these skills using HR -> Training.)

I cannot, I overwrote that save file already. Also I'm on mobile/Android.
I'll stay on the lookout if it happens again, keep the save and try to notice a cause.

0.2.9.4
A nice start, but not yet enjoyable.

Ah I gotchu. I didn't look into it enough. Good luck. Have no personal life for me plz.
Lol.

what is the version you are playing?
How to stop the mood drop among employees? And why is it falling at all? You can't use compliments, they add very little. At the beginning of the day, the whole mood progress drops. Why doesn't the employee's relationship rise above 9? and for some, it doesn't even go above 5.
Mood increase depend on the player's charisma stat, which can be increased by completing challenges. (Available on the office)
Affection increase above 6 requires potion with influence stat. Affection hitting 9 is a bug. Should not increase above 6 without a potion.
Mood degradation can be reduced by hiring HR people
Thank you. And yes, I caught a bug, without a potion, my employee's score is already 10.
Thanks!! yup. fixed that on latest. (along with bunch more)
This games pretty hard, could do with a sandbox im shit at this
Yup. Trick is not to hire anyone until your 1st health potion is tier 2 (potions with health stat will sell for higher price). After that try to hire someone with procurement at 9 or above

What does the job levels do?
